  • My reply to my Dear BCSA Followers

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Montana|Aug 26, 2021

The 80,000 acres that you crave is already under the protection of the US Forest Service. That is right, no subdivision will be put there! The ONLY thing the Blackfoot Clearwater Stewardship Act would do is to keep those nasty, raggedy people out of there that are elderly or handicapped. Wilderness - no assistance from mechanized devices - precludes our access and that is really what you want. These 80,000 acres HAD logging roads in it many years ago and therefore should NOT be eligible for wilderness designation. It should be open to ALL the...

  • Public land for public use

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Montana|Oct 22, 2020

We hear again about the availability of the public lands for use by the owners of that land ––the PUBLIC. Both candidates for Montana Senate seat indicate they feel public lands need to be open to the public. Who exactly are they talking about? The term public to me tends to be inclusive and not exclusive. The Bob Marshall Wilderness is considered by many to be “public” lands. The Bob Marshall is classified to be public but that is not really true. The elderly and handicapped (27% of the public) are categorically denied access to the Wildern...

  • Are Federal lands really open to the PUBLIC ?

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Jul 23, 2020

I see we have another member of our community that cherishes the beauty of this area. There are millions of acres of federal lands that have been preserved in such a way that if visitors were able to time travel to us today from the mid eighteen hundreds and go to these areas they would have to say, “Nothing has changed”. That is right, folks, millions of acres of public lands have been preserved and protected from incursion of the likes of the elderly and handicapped. Those folks are NOT part of the PUBLIC; they are the refuse that just hap...

  • Is anyone listening?

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Sep 6, 2018

The Pathfinder dated Aug. 30, 2018 certainly contained a great deal of controversial opinions on a variety of subjects. Those that seemed to generate the most emotion had to do with the petition regarding the way OUR ranger district is being run. We had just gone through an incredibly bad year of a fire that nearly cost us the very town we call home, followed by an incredibly good or bad snow year (depending on your winter activities). The beginning of our tourist season found that approximately 30 percent of the campsites available for our...

  • A Note to All - Wilderness Study and National Monument Areas

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Jan 11, 2018

When you read about the things that Senator Tester is trying to do to the wilderness study and National Monument areas, there are some things you need to know. • Wilderness study areas, were not, are not, and never were, supposed to be wilderness. These areas were to be studied by the appropriate agency and recommendations made to Congress as to the disposition of the area. The recommendation was to be made within five years of the WSA (Wilderness Study Area) designation. The study that was done determined that that these areas did NOT meet t...

  • Lolo National Forest Fire Season 2017

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Sep 28, 2017

Well it looks like we may finally exiting the fire season of 2017. Many questions are on the minds of the people that reside in this area of the nation. The first and easiest question is how did it start? The answer to that is simply a lightning strike. Now the questions become much more complicated. I have found the answers given by the ‘EXPERTS’ leave a lot to be desired. There are three things necessary for a fire. Oxygen Fuel Ignition source In our forest we, not surprisingly, have the first two in abundance and Mother Nature supplied the...

  • The Winds of Change

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Jun 15, 2017

The Environmental Protection Agency was created to improve the way our nation dealt with by-products of an advancing culture. To produce the goods and services that we now believe to be necessities, certain waste products are also produced. The proper disposal of these wastes required the establishment of the EPA to level the playing field for all producers, as the added cost was and is significant. Change created the EPA and change is required to maintain its proper role. The Paris Accord was signed for the same reason but precautions to...

  • What Is Needed Is A Definition of Terms

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Mar 30, 2017

What is a REAL (NATIVE) Montanan? Reading the editorials, it seems that a Real Montanan MUST be completely honorable and trust worthy. No other person can be capable of these traits. I have looked at several reference books with little success. If one is a Montanan, is it an imperative that they are honorable and upstanding? If one is NOT a Real Montanan, I suppose that they cannot be trusted. I have found that back when Montana became a state there was already a need for ac justice system and law enforcement. Obviously, people living here in...

  • BCSA Is a Benefit?

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Mar 9, 2017

From what I read about the Blackfoot Clearwater Stewardship Act (BCSA), there is very little local opposition to adding another 70,000 acres of wilderness to the millions that we already have. I must wonder what local they surveyed? How did they know the political affiliations of all those surveyed? Why would that be pertinent in a survey unless one was trying to justify a result that might not necessarily be valid? It is very nice that we have people coming from all over the world to go into the wilderness but we have people that LIVE HERE...

  • So Who Really Won the Election?

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Dec 8, 2016

The Democratic Party claims the popular vote while the Republican Party claims the Electoral College. Both organizations appear to have missed the very poignant message sent by the electorate via this last Presidential election. Hillary Clinton is symptomatic of a political party that seems to feel that we NEED to be looked after by a ruling class and she was entitled to that throne. The Republican Party on the other hand, felt they had the answer in the name of either Bush, Romney, Kasich, Graham or possibly Christie. The thought of a...

  • Local Survey Update on Presidential Nominees

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Nov 3, 2016

    1. E-mail Gate: My “Hillary for President” T-shirt showed me that the attitudes toward my Hillary option were greeted with a fair amount of curiosity and suspicion. My friends thought I had lost my bearings, my not so much friends, thought I had finally gained access to what little intelligence I had left ( pun intended). 2. Locker room talk- gate: The attitudes toward my Trump T-shirt expo was without a doubt, more emotional than option number 1. I was accused of less than honorable moral standing (Hitler comparison). I guess no one read wha...

  • Who are the Bigots?

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Oct 6, 2016

SEELEY LAKE - Who are more rude and crude in our area of Seeley Lake Liberal thinkers or those dastardly Conservatives? The general consensus appeared to be that conservatives had little patience or empathetic feelings for those that thought, looked and acted a little different. I am one of those people that tends to verify things that are generally accepted as being true. I decided to do my own very bias study. I donned my Clinton/ Kane tee shirt (available online for $30) and proceeded to wear it around our charming area for the day. I...

  • Lemmings or Not!

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Jul 7, 2016

I often wonder how many times are people asked, prior to an election, "Are you a Republican or a Democrat?" We as a Nation have become so indifferent to the future of our great country that we need only to identify with an animal foreign to our shores or a jackass. This Great Nation and those that sacrificed so much to create and maintain it deserve better. If you vote for someone solely because they are a woman, a minority, an incumbent, a Republican or a Democrat, you do a great disservice to...

  • Muslim Immigrants Should be Welcomed, Unless…

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Mar 17, 2016

Since the formation of this great nation, it has welcomed all to participate in the fruits of the most successful capitalistic nation the world has ever known. There are immigrants here from virtually every part of the earth. The people of the Middle East Nations must not be precluded from availing themselves to the wonderful benefits of becoming members of this nation any more than your or my ancestors were. Part of residing in any country around the world as a guest, resident or citizen is to agree to learn and abide by that country’s l...

  • What Public Lands?

    Ken Kronsperger, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Feb 18, 2016

Let us look at the incredible amount of beautiful public land available to the people of Montana and our visitors. On the federal level alone we have: United States Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks, the United States Park Service, the Bureau of Reclamation and the Army Corps of Engineers. With a few exceptions the above listed MANAGERS of OUR Public lands are duplicated on the state level. What do most have in common? To manage our PUBLIC lands for ALL of us. Hunters, hikers, skiers,...
