Johnson and Morse Named Most Inspiring Students

MISSOULA - Seeley-Swan High School (SSHS) junior Autumn Morse and senior Keaton Johnson were recognized as two of Missoula County Public Schools (MCPS) Most Inspiring Students. While neither considered themselves inspiring students, they appreciated the recognition.

The Most Inspiring Students Banquet has been held for the past seven years. Every year SSHS teachers and staff choose two students who they feel are an inspiration.

"Autumn and Keaton were nominated by staff as our two students who have been challenged by difficulties in their lives and have met those challenges head on," said SSHS Principal Dr. Kathleen Pecora.

"I think that a lot of people that go to Seeley-Swan High are inspiring and this award is a great way of recognizing students and how they have overcome hardships throughout their life," wrote Morse who was surprised she was nominated. "I guess that it makes me feel good to know that people recognize some of the struggles that I have overcome in my life while striving towards my goals."

Johnson said he didn't know about the award and never purposely tries to inspire others.

"Receiving this award kind of opened my eyes a little more to the impressions I leave on people because of what I've been through and done," wrote Johnson in an email. "It makes me look back and be proud of what I've done and where I am now"

Students from MCPS middle and high schools along with their families attended the banquet Thursday, May 3 at the Double Tree in Missoula. They were treated to dinner, listened to a speaker and received their award.
