Blackhawks Win at Frenchtown

FRENCHTOWN - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks were originally scheduled to go to Great Falls but the meet was canceled. The Seeley-Swan Qualifier was put together on short notice April 28. The meet attracted a dozen teams with most coming from Class C schools.

The Girls dominated the meet taking first with 143 points over second place Plains at 79 points. The Boys squeaked by for first place with 128 points over Fairfield by just three points.

For the Girls, Lily Mercer took first place in the 200 and 400 while Bethany Hoag won the 800-meter. Terra Bertsch won the high jump clearing 5 foot 4 inches, a new personal record.

Hunter Shelmerdine, Caleb Maughan and Logan Maughan each earned first place in the 400, 800 and 1600-meter respectively. Shelmerdine also won the triple jump.

Both the Boys and Girls 4X400-meter relay teams won first while both the 4X100 teams placed second.

The Blackhawks are back on the track at Big Sky High School in Missoula May 5 for the Kim L. Haines Memorial Invitational.
