Reasons for Some New Blood on the Sewer Board

SEELEY LAKE - Seeley Lake is very fortunate to have three new people who are interested in running for the Sewer Board. They are Beth Hutchinson, Troy Spence and Juli Cole.

The top priority for these three candidates is not to immediately reject the sewer. Their key focus will be on reevaluating all wastewater treatment options and greatly improving communications with the district.

There are several issues that they will address if elected to the board. One of their main concerns is that many of the constituents in Phase I will be forced into bankruptcy. According to the Census, 14.4 percent of all Seeley Lake residents are at the poverty level, and as we know, up to one third of the sewer district’s population could be income- challenged. These people need some kind of representation to address this problem.

They will leave no stone unturned on getting out ACCURATE information and sharing it with local residents and in the Pathfinder. They will work overtime to obtain information and they will have every option reevaluated. They will be willing to meet face-to-face with any questions you may have without fear of reprisal.

The incumbents running for the Sewer Board need to be questioned as to what has been going on the past few months regarding the sewer. I have looked at some of the minutes of their board meetings and I don’t see anything being accomplished. Why is that? Are they keeping you abreast of the latest Sewer news??

One incumbent’s comments may be misleading voters into thinking that the monthly fee could be reduced to $40. How does that happen when the notice and protest information given for Phase I says $92?

These new candidates have no ulterior motives in running for the Sewer Board, as neither of them have any businesses or agendas benefiting them. They are solely concerned for the town of Seeley Lake. These are some of the reasons we need some new blood on the Sewer Board.
