Cecil – Genuine Montanan Ready to Work for You

Dear Citizens of House District 92,

You can count on Duane “Cecil” Schlabach to be a representative who will pour his heart and soul into his duties. He has integrity, humor, a solid work ethic, a caring heart for Montana and its people and a wealth of knowledge and experience. I hope you take time to vote for him in the upcoming primary election June 5th.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Cecil at Seeley Lake Elementary since 2011, when he became the junior high civics, history and English teacher. He has excellent rapport with his students and their parents and I often see former students paying him a visit because he was such an influence in their lives.

Mr. Schlabach is extremely organized and thorough, and exceeds expectations each day to ensure his students succeed. He leads the student council and inspires those students to make their school a better place, and also leads a biannual trip to Helena to visit the state legislature. Mr. Schlabach gives countless hours of his own time toward duties related to the school, including fundraising for and leading students on trips to Washington, D.C.

Mr. Schlabach’s life experiences also add to his credibility. He grew up in an Amish family and was only allowed to attend public school through the eighth grade. He left home to pursue higher education, and began working for backcountry outfitters in the Seeley-Swan Valley. After acquiring his GED, he attended the University of Montana and graduated with bachelor’s degrees in English and History. He will graduate this spring with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Cecil is an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and will work hard to protect our public lands. He also recognizes first-hand that supporting education is extremely important for ensuring all Montanans have a bright future.

Even though his service as a teacher is already a great contribution, Cecil has also served our community as a member of the Seeley Lake Community Council for the past four years. This experience will also be important if he has the opportunity to serve as your representative. He will strive for fiscally responsible economic growth and strengthening public education.

Our district needs Cecil. Montana needs Cecil! Chances are he has knocked on your door in hopes of meeting you face to face to talk about issues dear to him. If you did meet him, you met a genuine Montanan with a heart of gold ready to work for you.

Sincerely,

Kelsi Luhnow, Third Grade Teacher, Seeley Lake Elementary

Seeley Lake, Mont.
