Blackhawks Tear Up the Home Court

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks hosted the Valley Christian Eagles Jan. 19 and the Drummond Trojans Jan. 20.

Both the Boys and Girls easily brought down the Eagles with the final scores of 59-46 and 71-21.

Avery Smith and Chance Johnson led the Blackhawks. Both broke into the double digits with 14 and 12 points respectively. The team preformed well from the free throw line hitting 14 of 18 attempted.

Also scoring: Keaton Johnson 9, Hunter Shelmerdine 8, Dakota Wood 6, Cameron Haines 5, Cordell Turner 4 and Hunter Sokoloski 1.

The Lady Blackhawks were led by Klaire Kovatch with 14 points. Kovatch and Autumn Morse were both 100 percent from the free throw line, a place where the team has struggled this season. The team spread the scoring out over the whole team with all eleven Ladies scoring at least two baskets.

Also scoring: Morse 9, Aspen Conley 8, Lily Mercer 6, Jory Towe 6, Kara Good 6, Ashley Miller 5, Terra Bertsch 5, Bethany Hoag 4, Chloe Robbins 4 and Taylor Dillree 4.

The Lady Blackhawks took the first crack at the Trojans. They came out strong and had a commanding lead by the half, 27-16. They didn't let up in the second half and finished the Trojans off, 52-39.

Morse led the Lady Blackhawks hitting 3 three-pointers on her way to 15 points. Hoag and Towe were both 100 percent from the free throw line.

Also scoring: Bertsch 9, Miller 9, Robbins 6, Kovatch 5, Mercer 4, Hoag 2 and Towe 2.

The Boys put up a good fight against the Trojans. They were tied after the first quarter and were just a couple baskets back at the half. They kept fighting hard but the victory slowly slipped out of reach. The final score was 42-57.

Chance led the Blackhawks with 12 points followed by Smith with 10. Keaton hit the teams' only three pointer and Sokoloski was the only one to go 100 percent from the free throw line.

This Week

This week the Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks take to the road this week playing the Clark Fork Coop at Superior Jan. 26 with games starting at 2:30 p.m. They then head to Plains Jan. 27 with games starting at 1:30 p.m.
