Michael Robbins is the Lady Blackhawks new Head Coach this year. Coach Robbins has been the assistant coach for several years and moved up to replace long time Head Coach Shawn Holmes. David Cahoon has come on as the Assistant Coach.

Coach Robbins said this year's team is young but has a lot of talent. Initially he plans to change very little but will tweak their strategy as needed.

"Mr. Holmes is a pretty well-respected coach and his system works very well," said Coach Robbins.

The Boys' first victim was Hot Springs. They blew the game out in the second quarter with 21 points to Hot Spring's 3 and road it out to a 52-28 win.

By the fourth quarter the referees were letting the clock run, as the Blackhawks were more than 40 points ahead. The final score was 67-22.

Three Blackhawks scored in the double digits. Smith and Haines had 15 each while Turner put up 14 points.

Also scoring: Keaton Johnson 7, Chance Johnson 6, Mercado 4, Santone 2, Wood 2 and Shelmerdine 2.

Blackhawks Head Coach Mike Haines was pleased with the Boys' opening games. Despite having only 13 players out this year, he remains optimistic that they can put together another winning season.

Several players put a lot of time in this summer hitting the gym and playing basketball to get a little better. Coach Haines hopes to build on those improvements and get a little stronger each week.

The Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks took on Bigfork Dec. 5. They will then host the Clark Fork Co-op Dec. 8 with JV Boys starting at 3 p.m.
