Verizon Antenna Added to Cell Tower

SEELEY LAKE – A Verizon antenna was installed on the 150-foot cell tower on Redwood Lane in Seeley Lake this past week. J.R. Reger, a member of the tower owner Andesite Properties LLC, said it should be operational very soon.

Even though the Federal Aviation Administration did not require Andesite Properties to have a light on the top, Reger decided to add a solid red light for safety. The light is only on at night because of the proximity to the helipad located at the Seeley-Swan Medical Center.

"That helipad spooked me a little bit. I didn't want a helicopter pilot at night, who is not paying attention, to accidentally run into it," said Reger. "I just thought I would rather do that than wish I had down the road."

The tower can hold up to five carriers. The tower is being marketed to AT&T, Spirit and T Mobile as well. Reger expects them to add antennas in the future since it is a prime location on Highway 83.
