Tour the Arts Features Valley Artists

Over 25 artists featured in self-guided tour of art studios, galleries and historical museums. Three new studios and eight new artists for 2017!

The 2017 Alpine Artisans' annual Tour of the Arts invites you to take a tour of local artists at work on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This popular self-guided tour has expanded to feature the work of more than 25 artists in five artist studios, three galleries and two historical museums in Seeley Lake, Condon, Lincoln and Ovando. The tour is held annually in mid-October to feature the natural beauty of the western tamaracks as they turn a bright yellow and orange, highlighting the incredible natural beauty of the Seeley, Swan and Blackfoot Valleys.

The Tour of the Arts is an opportunity to visit the artists in their studios, meet them immersed in their passion and see them at work. Visitors will be welcomed into their artist lifestyle, learn firsthand about their art and hear their stories of creation.

The tour is continuing our collaboration with two local historical museums featuring 10 of the artists: Condon's Upper Swan Valley Historical Museum and Ovando's Brand Bar Museum. Each museum is housed in a fascinating historical building and visitors will enjoy absorbing the local lore and old stories side-by-side with experiencing these artists' techniques and perspectives.

New to the tour this year are two Swan Valley Studios: Dodie Woods' Rustic Pots Ceramic Studio near Holland Lake and Russ Abolt's Third Life Studio (2515 Smith Creek Road - not on the map) which includes a full outdoor sculpture garden, artist's studio and in-home exhibit.

The Lincoln Art Haus Coop, a new artists' cooperative in Lincoln, Mont. is joining the tour this year featuring seven artists showing mixed media, weaving, wood sculpture, jewelry, watercolor and oils.

The Tour also offers two free movie nights showing the new documentary "Charged, the Story of Eduardo Garcia" from the filmmaking team that created the award-winning film "Unbranded." Film showings will be at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Lincoln Community Hall and Saturday at the Seeley Lake Community Hall. Visit http://www.chargedfilm.com/story/ for more information.

Tour maps are available in Seeley Lake at the Grizzly Claw Trading Post, in Condon at Grace's Gallery, at participating galleries and museums and online at: http://www.alpineartisans.org/tour-of-the-arts-folder/.
