Blackhawks Double Up

The Blackhawks had their first run at the state course Oct. 5 at the City 7 of 7 Invitational in Helena. Then Oct. 7 they joined four more teams in Corvallis for a short race.

Dual athlete Logan Robinson joined the team for the first time this season. He ran a fast 6:01 first mile and led the Blackhawks with a time of 20:35.43.

Levi Reinitz continues to shave off time dropping a minute and a half. He set a new personal record of 25:18.94. His time beat teammate Lane Mackie-Wendel who finished in 25:26.53.

Jayla Kauffman was the only Lady Blackhawk at the varsity-only meet. She finished 32 of 44 with a time of 28:40.07.

The boys returned to Corvallis Saturday and joined the field of 60 other runners for a three-mile race.

Robinson again led the Blackhawks finishing in 19:33 placing 15th. Cordell Turner was close behind in 20:18.

Mackie-Wendel would not be outdone by Reinitz and finished in 23:31, 37 seconds ahead of Reinitz.

Three middle school runners joined the Blackhawks in Corvallis for the 1.5 mile race.

Hannah Ayers lead the field of 119 girls until she was out-kicked to the finish. She placed fourth with a time of 10:08.

Aydin Bayford placed 15th of 92 runners with a time of 9:52. Teammate Chase Haines was close behind finishing in 10:35 placing 29th.

"I'm really pleased," said Head Coach Zelda Haines. "They all ran faster miles [at Corvallis] than ever before."

The next meet is the Missoula City Meet Oct. 11 starting at 4 p.m.
