Yes for First World Sewer System for Seeley

SEELEY LAKE - I am writing to share my thoughts and voice my “Yes” for a community sewer system. The first reason is that I, along with all of you, like clean water. It is so refreshing to drink directly from a spring or mountain waterfall! I can’t say the same for drinking directly from the lake and this is the point.

The second reason is stewardship and doing “my part” to protect my family, my community and my state.

Through the efforts of the volunteer committee, and the process they followed, we have learned about several logical and well-founded studies that have been conducted regarding our ground water. The findings show that water quality is being degraded. But the great news is that we can do something about it, AND, there are several agencies willing to help and fund most of the cost! This is a BIG win for my family and for my neighbors.

Connecting to a “First World” sewer treatment system protects my family and the neighborhood kids for years to come. Why not connect? I heard some people commenting that they would be burdened with the effort of getting their yard back in order. Let’s make a deal. I personally commit to helping out some neighbors, or “New friends” do this work. What a great way to meet real people and connect. Obviously, I can’t do this for the whole community but I can help and contribute.

I recently encountered a person serving a mission in a third world country / developing nation. He shared a horrible story about a mother that lost her infant son and he felt hopeless in the situation as he grappled with ways to help.

Did you know that a leading cause of childhood death is directly associated with dysentery and/or dehydration from ongoing diarrhea caused by contaminated water? I did not know this. The solution is well known in our country and was also known in Roman and Greek times as well. Contain and treat household effluents with current technology and be sure to keep it out of the water source.

We can do this. We should do this. Please support clean water by supporting the Seeley sewer system.
