Drew Joins Pathfinder Team

I am excited to be working at the Seeley Swan Pathfinder this summer and look forward to covering and being part of your community.

I have been involved in journalism since I was young. I wrote and edited for my high school paper, the Patriot Ledger in Boise, Idaho. I came to Montana to attend the School of Journalism in Missoula.

I just graduated with my degree in journalism and will be returning in the fall to finish a degree in exercise science and biomechanics.

Over the last few years, I have freelanced for several magazines, written for the Boise Weekly and most recently spent the fall covering Montana politics for the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and UM News Service. I have written about the Race to the Sky dog sledding race, profiled candidates for house and senate races and covered USA Track and Field nationals.

Now I am looking forward to working for another small weekly newspaper here in Montana. Small communities provide more story opportunities than larger cities where each reporter specializes in a different area. As a young journalist, I like being able to write about all sorts of stories and weekly papers are the best way to do that.

I expect that it might take a while to get used to having another reporter in town, especially one from out of town but I hope that I will get to know many of you in a short while!

For everyone who lives right around Seeley Lake, it is likely that you will see me running around town. I'll be the one in short, brightly colored running shorts. I am a member of the UM cross country and track teams and will be training for the fall cross country season.

I ran the Snow Joke half marathon in town two years ago and got to explore the area a little bit. There are some of the best trails and roads for running around here which makes me even more stoked to live here for a summer.

Please feel free to flag me down if you see me around town. I look forward to a summer of serving the community.
