Richardson Wins Council Election; Rossi and Kennedy Elected to Fire Board

SEELEY LAKE & Swan Valley – According to the unofficial results of the May 2 Special District Elections, Nathan Richardson was elected to the three-year position on the Swan Valley Community Council and newcomer Rita Rossi and incumbent Scott Kennedy filled the two, three-year seats on the Seeley Lake Rural Fire District Board in the May 2 special district elections.

-Of the 421 registered voters in the Swan Valley, 214 voters, 50.83 percent returned their ballots. Richardson won the Swan Valley Community Council three-year position with 110 of the votes, 51.89 percent. Diann Ericson received 88 votes, 41.51 percent. Chantel Thornsberry, whose name appeared on the ballot but who had withdrawn from the election, pulled 14 votes, 6.6 percent.

Only 38.50 percent of the 1,504 registered voters in Seeley Lake returned their ballots. Rossi pulled the most votes getting 385, 38.5 percent. It was a close race between Kennedy and Alyssa McLean. Kennedy won by 23 votes getting 317 to McLean’s 294, 31.7 to 29.4 percent respectively.

The results will be canvassed at the Missoula County Commissioners’ meeting Friday.
