Seeley Lake Lions Club to Start Leos Club

SEELEY LAKE - In 1957 the Glenside Lions Club of Abington, Pennsylvania chartered the first Leo Club at Abington High School. In 1967, the board of directors of Lions Clubs International adopted the Leo Club as an official program of the association.

The objective of the Leo Club is to provide youth with the opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national and international community. The Leo motto is Leadership, Experience and Opportunity.

The program has continued to grow and there are now more than 6,500 clubs in more than 140 countries. Community service remains the cornerstone of the program, fostering a lifetime commitment to helping others.

The Seeley Lake Lions Club, in cooperation with the Seeley-Swan High School (SSHS), is exploring establishing a Leo Club here in Seeley Lake. An informational meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 6 in room 102 of the SSHS. Students of high school age and their parents are encouraged to attend. This club is not restricted to SSHS students. It is open to home-schooled students who live in the area as well.

To get involved or for more information please contact Mary Stone at SSHS 677-2224 or Tim Berry, Seeley Lake Lions Club, 406-291-9005.
