Free, Family Fun on the Big Screen

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Fire Hall turned movie theater Friday, March 10 complete with burgers, popcorn and a big screen. Around 60 children and their parents attended the event hosted by the Missoula County Sheriff's Office and the Seeley Lake Fire Company.

Missoula County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Sunderland coordinated the event. His intent was to give young children in the area something to do on Friday night.

"Outside of outdoor activities there is no hang out for the kids," said Sunderland.

Attendees were treated to burgers donated by Cory's Valley Market, drinks from Rovero's, Kurt's Polaris donated the use of their popcorn popper and popcorn and the Seeley Lake Fire Company supplied the buns and condiments. Good Times donated the movie "Finding Dory" which was projected on the big screen in the fire truck bay. Volunteer firefighters hung out and helped get everything set up and taken down.

Attendees posted various comments on Facebook about how grateful they were for the opportunity to have a family event that was free to attend in Seeley Lake.

Seeley Lake volunteer Shelly Johnson said, "It was a great, successful event."

Sunderland said they hope to make this a monthly event. The next Movie Night will be April 8. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will start at 7 p.m. While the movie isn't picked yet, Johnson said it will be another family movie.
