Snow – More than Meets the Eye

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Elementary (SLE) second-graders have been studying the science of meteorology, specifically the processes and phenomena of the atmosphere as a means of forecasting the weather. With snow being an abundant resource in Seeley Lake over the winter months, they studied snow on a macroscopic level.

The eleven second-graders were so excited about their discoveries they decided to take action and share their new knowledge about the formation of snow crystals with the community of Seeley Lake at SLE Outside. Customers at SLE Outside will find a large display created by the seven- and eight-year-olds with detailed descriptions of each type of snow crystal, at what temperatures they form and scientific examples of each type of crystal.

Second grade teacher Erin Lynch wrote in an email, "The second graders highly encourage you to come learn more about snow, not only because it is "cool" but because there is so much more to it than meets the eye."
