Blackhawks Win Thriller at Home

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks had the crowd on the edge of their seats as they defeated Drummond at the buzzer. The Blackhawks also defeated Lincoln last week extending their conference record to 6-2 and overall record to 10-6.

Versus Drummond

The Blackhawks hosted the Drummond Trojans Feb 3. Though Drummond is no longer in Seeley-Swan's district, the rivalry continues to run strong.

The Trojans put in 3 unanswered baskets to take an early lead. By the time the Blackhawks started hitting their shots, Drummond led by 8. The Blackhawks cut the lead to 5 by the end of the quarter.

The Blackhawks struggled in the first quarter to control Drummond's Leroy Davis. Davis put in 10 of his 12 game points in the first quarter but the Blackhawks managed to shut him down the rest of the game.

Bradley Miller racked up 11 points of his 19 game points in the second quarter helping the Blackhawks overtake the Trojans by halftime.

The Blackhawks headed into the second half holding a 6-point advantage. Drummond broke the Blackhawks second quarter momentum and matched them point for point through the third.

Drummond chipped away at the Blackhawks through the final quarter outscoring them 10-3 until the final seconds. The Trojans were up by one with just 7 seconds left on the clock.

Nino Robinett drew a foul and was sent to the foul line for a single shot and the possibility of sending the game to overtime.

The shot took a hard bounce off the rim and Blackhawk Chance Johnson got his hands on it, knocking it away from a Trojan. He recovered it and made a quick pass to Robinett, who passed it cross-court to a wide-open Cameron Haines.

Haines shot from well outside the three-point line. The Blackhawks' fans erupted in celebration, as the buzzer sounded and his shot found the mark. The Blackhawks won with a final score of 48-46.

Miller led the Blackhawks with 19 points followed by Keaton Johnson and Haines with 11 each. Haines hit three of the teams' 6 three-pointers.

The Blackhawks were 6 for 12 from the free throw line.
