Please Pause for Pets and People

Alert! For those who warm up their car in the garage, please make sure you do not leave your pet in the garage after leaving. Carbon monoxide could kill your pet from the fumes of your car. Best to back your car outside then warm it up.

Carbon monoxide accumulates and can filter in and fill up the garage and seep into your home. Please everyone out there get a carbon monoxide detector. Save your family and your pet, a detector would make a great Christmas present.

There has been a mountain lion hanging around the top of Cedar Lane near the snowmobile trail. My little dog went out to use the bathroom and it was right around my big tree. It scared her to death. Everyone should keep their little dogs in and go out with them when they need to go so they aren’t alone.

Our spay and neuter fund is being hit pretty hard by people needing help. We are glad people are spaying and neutering but worry about the fund running low.

I know it is fun to get a new kitten or puppy for the children at Christmas but once again, it is not the best time to do that, as it is very scary for the pet. All the commotion is upsetting to the pets. Try giving them a surprise two weeks earlier or later!

Thank you to anyone who calls when they feel a dog is outside in the cold and not being taken care of. It was pointed out to me by two people a week ago. So I took a look.

Well, I wish all the dogs in the world were taken care of the way these Burmese Mountain dogs are. They love laying in the rain and snow and are famous guard dogs high in the mountains as a protector of sheep and are known for endearing love of children of owners.

Most dogs should be inside unless they are bred for the cold, like the Burmese Mountain dogs. Please continue to be observant of any cruelty and report it to the Animal Control.

Someone questioned me about not having as many birds this year. Perhaps the neighbors have something more attractive?

I had two sets of bluebirds this year and they had good hatches. I also use the little square suet feeds in spring and had a lot of birds.

Perhaps birds are like animals and people, they change their minds and locations for no reason. I am sure the fellow I was talking to is a great bird provider. Yes, I love birds too. Your birds will come back!

Thank all of you who donated dog and cat food to The Food Bank. The Food Bank struggles for food for people and pets, so please remember and help our Seeley Swan Community Food Bank.

Deepest love and sympathy to Pixie, Phil Pohlman’s little dog who was carried around by Phil from the time Phil and Sharon took him in as they did for so many animals. They were many animals’ savior.

Phil will be so missed by Pixie, the family he adored and our community. Anyone who knew Phil, he was a wonderful friend, husband and dad.

Best of Christmas and have a blessed and safe New Year

Elinor Williamson
