Tigers Take Down Blackhawks

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks hosted the Darby Tigers Sept. 2 for the varsity's first home game of the season.

The Blackhawks defense came out strong, stopping the Tigers' opening drive. The Tigers' punt put the Blackhawks offense deep into their own territory

The offense was unable to move the ball and was forced to punt. A wild snap set the Tigers up at the 1-yard line for an early touchdown and two-point conversion.

The teams traded possessions throughout the rest of the first quarter and into the second before the Blackhawks could answer back. Bradley Miller took the ball in for a 10-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion failed leaving the Blackhawks down two.

The Blackhawks were able to take the lead just minutes later, capitalizing on a personal foul of the Tigers. The foul pushed the Tigers back to the 2-yard line and the offending player was ejected.

Blackhawks were able to hold the Tigers there giving the offense great position. Miller scored on a 2-yard keeper and Gavin Mercado took in the 2-point conversion.

The Tigers came right back tying the game at 14 each after getting good field position from an onside kick.

Darby rallied for three more touchdowns and one two-point conversion in the closing minutes of the half putting the Blackhawks down 20 points.

In the second half the Blackhawks were unable to put any more points up. Darby added three more touchdowns. The final score was 14-56.
