4-H Archers and Shooters Take First Place

MISSOULA - Between the Seeley Lake Trailblazer and Potomac Valley 4-H Clubs 18 members took various shooting projects for the fair and came away with seven first-place awards.

The shooters competed in the 2016 Western Montana Fair Exhibition Shoot before fair week. Their scores and placings were presented during the fair.

Shooting included shotgun and air rifle with leader Dave Clark for Potomac hosting Tuesday practices in Missoula at the Trap and Skeet Club. The Seeley Lake club practiced at the Seeley Lake Range with coach Heath Hanson.

Seeley Lake dominated the air rifle divisions. Taylor Dillree took first in the junior division with a score of 153. Her teammate Owen Hoag was close behind her with 143 points taking second.

In the Senior Air Rifle Division, Seeley Lake's Amber Springer placed second with a score of 94.

In the archery competitions, Potomac archers placed first in Primitive, Limited, Bow Hunter and Olympic Recurve.

Rebecca Vann of Potomac shot for first in the Senior Bow Hunter Division. She scored four more points than her closest competitor earning a score of 283. She was also the only competitor in the Senior Olympic Recurve Division earning 214 points.

Sydney McDaniel swept the Senior Bare Bow winning by 43 points with a score of 217.

Maggie Vann earned herself a place by taking first with more than 70 points in the Junior Primitive. Her score was 185. She was also the only competitor in the Junior Olympic Recurve event. She shot 200.

Potomac's Emmett Zander beat out Seeley Lake's Bethany Hoag for first place in the Junior Limited Division by 10 points. Hoag took second with a score of 184.
