God's People Take Note

It has been said of our country that we are a Christian nation. Do we, then, stand strong together to honor God in all we do?

In our Pledge of Allegiance, the words “one nation under God” mean we should all be united, allowing God to be our Guide. Sadly, our nation has fallen away from its Christian foundation and principles. Sin blankets our nation today. Therefore, it is crucial now that believers stand together for God’s truths and promises, return to Him and seek His will. God’s blessings will not be given to our nation without our obedience to Him. Ulysses S. Grant expressed it this way, “Righteousness exalteth a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.”

At this time there has never been so great a need in our nation’s history than for revival!! Christians across our country need to recommit themselves to God and join together in purpose. Believers need to be in God’s Word daily; be genuinely serious about sin and refuse to be complacent to it; be serious about obedience and service and love one another; be in prayer continually; and be thankful to God always.

As Christians we have a responsibility to get involved in our government and in the process of electing our leaders. Will we willingly confront whatever must be confronted so that nothing stands between us and God? Through God’s strength and guidance, we can aid in making this country strong again. He will bless our faithfulness.

Noah Webster wisely once said, “God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God. The preservation of a republican government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty; if the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted; laws will be made, not for the public good, so much as for selfish or local purposes; corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the laws; the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the rights of the citizens will be violated or disregarded.”

Christians, let’s get back to God! Calvin Coolidge, our 30th President, has been quoted as saying, “The strength of our country is the strength of its religious convictions. . . The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country.”

The solution to the state of our nation rests in God’s people seeking the Lord in prayer; submitting to the truths of His Word; and acknowledging His wisdom, power, presence, salvation and tender love. Christians must resolutely make God their Lord and put Him first above everything. Without our resolve to honor God above all, our nation will not be revived.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Let’s fervently be in prayer for our nation and its future. Join the Decision America Tour with Franklin Graham in Helena on the Capital North Front Steps at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 9 in prayer for this country.

Ronald Reagan once urged us to humble ourselves in heartfelt prayer, to do so for the love of God and His great goodness, to seek His guidance and the grace of repentance, seek His blessings, His peace and rest in His Holy Hands. President Reagan, because of our country’s need for revival and spiritual renewal, strongly urged all citizens to turn to God and reassert our trust in Him for healing America. It needs to start with God’s people!
