Seeley Lake Residents Encouraged to Adopt a Hydrant

SEELEY LAKE - It is that time of the year where snow can become a problem for your local Fire District getting access to fire hydrants. Seeley Lake is very fortunate to have such a well-maintained water and fire hydrant system. Though the Seeley Lake Water District works hard to keep the hydrants clear of snow in the winter... you can assist in that effort.

Pleases consider adopting the hydrant nearest your home and do your part to keep it clear of snow. It can be difficult to locate a fire hydrant that is covered with snow. Snow covered fire hydrants can cause critical delays and add extreme physical challenges to the firefighters.

The Seeley Lake Rural Fire District firefighters strive to keep the residents safe. Fire hydrants are a huge part of our fire suppression operations. It takes a lot of very hard work to knock down any structure fire. There are multiple challenges to address and overcome during these stressful incidents.

Firefighters needing to clear snow from a fire hydrant adds to the physical and mental challenges. Time is a critical factor in achieving knockdown on a fire. Saving lives is our number one responsibility. We also do our very best to minimize property damage. Any help you can give us in those efforts is appreciated.

Clear a three foot circle on all sides of the hydrant and if possible, a shoveled path to the roadway.
