Political Correctness and What Really Matters

As we are all aware, there is a runaway epidemic of “offense and political correctness” in this country.  It is getting downright scary.  Some of us are afraid to sneeze in public.

I do not want to beleaguer the subject, but I feel the need to give my two cents worth, I guess.  Maybe just to make myself feel better.

We do not live in a perfect world, perfect society or with perfect people.  There is offense, hurt feelings and differing opinions about things.  People with differing opinions or beliefs want “regulations” instituted to support them.  They use the word, “offense” to support their opinion but often at the cost of loss of freedoms for others.

We all could make long lists of things offensive to us, or talk about the political implications forever, but we hear enough of that already.

Bear with me, I have a few things that I find offensive:  cruelty to children and animals; the helpless that cannot find help; school shootings; ISIS and the legalized murder of unborn babies and the sale of their parts for profit.  That is not bothersome or offensive, it is devastating and it hurts me to the core.

But...a baby in a manger...a loving and merciful God…ancient Yuletide hymns that have been enjoyed around the world for centuries?  I  think not.

Please America, let us stop our bickering, accept our differences and choose our battles wisely.  Our forefathers fought bravely for our freedoms.  Let us honor their sacrifice and remember what really matters.  Merry Christmas.
