Lady Blackhawks Season Off to Winning Start

The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks took home a pair if wins from a tournament in Frenchtown last week. The Ladies downed Plains and Arlee to start their season 2-0.

Versus Plains

The Lady Blackhawks pounded Plains Horsemen in their first game of the season Dec. 4, taking a 21-point lead in the first half. The Ladies finished them off 52-23.

Paige Holmes hit two, 3-point and three, 2-point shots to lead the Lady Blackhawks with 12 points. Mary Strumpfer added 10 points while Alex Bohlman and Delaney Holzworth each had 8 points.

Also scoring: Marisol Caro 6; Eliana Robinett 4; Stephanie Robbins 2 and Stevi Meade 2.

Versus Arlee

The Lady Blackhawks faced the Arlee Scarlets Dec. 5. The last time the teams met, the Scarlets ended the Lady Blackhawks’ 2014-15 season at divisional tournaments.

The Lady Blackhawks charged to an early lead in the first quarter and extended it to 13 points at the half. The Ladies were able to hold off the Scarlets in the second half for a 47-37 victory.

Paige Holmes led the Lady Blackhawks with 15 points from two 3-point and two 2-point shots and five free throws. Alex Bohlman followed Holmes with 9 points. Eliana Robinett and Cera Strumpfer both hit two for two from the free-throw line.

Also scoring: Delaney Holzworth 6; Robinett 6; Stephanie Robbins 4; Marisol Caro 3; Mary Strumpfer 2 and Cera Strumpfer 2.

This Week at SSHS

The Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks travel to Valley Christian to take on the Eagles Dec. 12. Junior Varsity games start at 1 p.m. while Varsity is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
